OUR BREEDING PROGRAM
We are a small in-home breeding program that offers American Kennel Club miniature dachshunds. Our standards are high when it comes to the quality of stock in our program. We carefully select sires and dams with quality bloodlines and both sires and dams are raised together in our home. We have been raising miniature dachshunds since 2009.
We are extremely transparent when it comes to our breeding program and the testing our dogs undergo prior to ever being considered into our program. All sires and dams prior to mating undergo an extensive breed profile of genetic testing with Orivet Genetic Pet Care. We are also partners with OFA (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals). We perform any recommended screenings with the Canine Health Information Center, this includes yearly eye certifications for PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) from a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist. As well as being cleared by a boarded veterinarian for Patellar Luxation. All of our health testing results receive CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) numbers and the results can be searched for through the OFA database.
We believe that all dogs deserve an extraordinary quality of life as well as loving and attentive families. Our adoption process allows us to interview interested individuals to find the best fit for both their family and our puppies. We do ask that all families interested in adopting one of our puppies researches the breed extensively prior to applying for adoption. This helps assure us that the homes our puppies end up in are as knowledgeable as possible. We only want the best outcome for our puppies. Breeding rights are something we do offer at an additional cost, please make it known on your puppy application if you intend to mate your puppy in the future. We do not always guarantee breeding rights as we accept the breeding terms on a case by case basis. We also offer additional information on transitioning our puppies from our care to your home and family. As the breeder we do have first pick of the litter, we do also have the right to refuse your puppy application for any reason we deem appropriate.
If you wish to be placed on our waiting list you can submit a puppy application and within 24-48 hours you will be contacted for further consideration. Due to the influx of applications we receive the estimated wait time for a puppy could be six to nine months so please consider that prior to submitting your application. Once approved we will contact you with a confirmed upcoming litter. After the puppies are twelve to fourteen days old we will confirm coats and colorings and contact all accepted families. At that time you must make a non-refundable deposit of $300 to be placed with a specific puppy. Your deposit will go towards the total adoption price.
We do not breed for quantity or frequency but instead for quality. We are hoping to expand our program in the future but we will never exceed more than three to five litters in a year. We currently offer both smooth/short haired and long haired coatings and are hoping to offer wire-haired in the future.
All puppies leave our care with legally binding contracts and a one year health guarantee.
